How WhatsApp broadcast pricing works
A WhatsApp broadcast is not a group message - it sends an individual template message to each contact, and Meta charges per delivered message. So your campaign cost is simply reachable recipients × per-message rate × number of broadcasts. Marketing broadcasts are the most expensive category; utility messages (order and appointment updates) are much cheaper, and authentication is for OTPs.
Why opt-in rate matters
You can only send marketing broadcasts to contacts who have opted in, and undeliverable numbers are not charged. Estimating a realistic reachable rate gives a far more accurate campaign budget than multiplying your whole list. Keeping your list clean and opted-in is also the best way to protect your quality rating and avoid restrictions.
Cutting broadcast costs
Segment so you only message relevant people, prefer utility templates where the message qualifies, and encourage replies so more of the conversation happens in the free 24-hour service window. For a per-message and per-country breakdown, use our WhatsApp Business API pricing guide.
