What you can do with the Shopify integration

Connect Shopify to Whautomate and turn every order, fulfilment and abandoned checkout into a personalised WhatsApp conversation. The integration ships four native triggers -Abandoned Cart, Order Created, Order Fulfilled and Order Cancelled - and each Send Message action lets you set a wait time (5 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, and so on) so you can build full lifecycle WhatsApp journeys without ever touching code.

Each trigger gives you rich Shopify context (order number, amount, product images, tracking URL, abandoned checkout URL, status URL, tracking company and number, reference ID) which you can drop into any message as a dynamic variable like {{shopify.orderNumber}} or {{shopify.abandonedCheckoutUrl}}.

How to connect Shopify to Whautomate

Open Integrations → Shopify

In Whautomate, click the Shopify connect button.

Create a Shopify custom app

In Shopify, go to Apps → Develop apps → Create app "Whautomate" and grant the required Admin API scopes.

Paste store URL + token

Copy your yourstore.myshopify.com URL and the Admin API access token into Whautomate.

Add a rule with a Shopify trigger

In Automation → Add Rule, pick a Shopify trigger, add a Send Message action and set the wait time (e.g. 1 hour, 1 day) on each action to schedule follow-ups. See the automations guide.

Which Shopify triggers does Whautomate support?

Can I schedule messages after a trigger fires?

Yes. Every Send Message action in an automation rule has a wait-time setting - 5 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, and so on. Add multiple Send Message actions to the same rule, each with its own delay, to space out a recovery or post-purchase journey.

Can I do COD double-confirmation?

Yes. Use the Shopify Order Created trigger with a payment-method condition for COD, and ask the customer to confirm the order on WhatsApp before your warehouse picks it. This is one of the most effective automations to cut COD return-to-origin losses.

What variables can I use in messages?

Can I send to customers who have not opted in?

No. WhatsApp requires explicit opt-in. Whautomate provides checkout opt-in widgets and Shopify SMS marketing checkbox support so consent is captured at checkout.
